by @drvonskillet | @patucon
October 22nd the National Day of Action Against Police Brutality and part of the Black Lives Matter National Week of Action. Local organizers marched through Springfield & had moments of silence at sites of police terror. The march included a stop at Nature’s Garden, a store formerly owned by Ayyub Abdul Alim who is currently incarcerated on trumped up gun charges and the corner where Delano Walker Jr was killed by police in 2009. The march was followed by a Know-Your-Rights Training and an act of Civil Awareness in the Holyoke mall.
Actions were organized and attended by youth from Arise for Social Justice, MoHonest, The Vanguard Movement, Decolonize Media Collective and Orange Ink. Many of the organizers returned from their participation in Ferguson October vitalized to organize solidarity actions throughout the Valley. More actions are planned should a “no indictment” verdict be reached regarding Officer Darren Wilson and continuing in the struggle against police violence.
Mike Brown means we got to fight back.
