URGENT: Action alert tomorrow in Springfield & Thursday in Amherst – Justice for Ayyub‏

  •

Peace folks!

TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY DEC 5, is going to be a packed day. Please come at any and all parts throughout the day!

9:30AM – Court support for Lorenzo. We’ll gather in a courtroom at the Hampden Courthouse (50 State St, Springfield) for Lorenzo, friend and comrade of Ayyub’s. Lorenzo was essential in helping Ayyub draft his legal appeals from jail when they were at Hampden County Facility together. Lorenzo was one of the first James Baldwin Scholars at Hampshire! He then went to Columbia University, and was later charged with arson. Tomorrow the court will just postpone his trial. Nonetheless, it’s important that we’re pressuring the court for Lorenzo’s case as we are for Ayyub’s. Please wear blue to identify ourselves and strengthen our image.

12PM – Leafleting outside Swan’s office. When Lorenzo’s finished in court, we’ll meet at the median outside State Rep Benjamin Swan’s office ( 815 State St, Springfield) to grab his attention and folks on the street. We’ll be leafleting ‘6 reasons Ayyub is innocent’.

2PM –  Know Your Rights Training / Gathering at location of Ayyub’s arrest. The Getty Gas Station (683 State Street) is under a new name and management but it’s where Ayyub was arrested two years ago. It’s also across from the building he managed and the store and community center he owned. We’re planning on a collective Know Your Rights Training and hearing from some folks on the historical context of infiltration in Muslim communities.

2:30PM – March to Federal Building. Then we’ll take our banners and voices and leaflets and hit up the streets. It’s a 25 minute walk to 1441 Main Street where the FBI is located. Once there, we’ll continue making noise and increasing our visibility, and we’ll be shooting Sheldon’s music video for Al-Ahzab for Ayyub. We’ll be here until about 4 / 4:30.
